And the “World Capital Book 2011” goes to

Argentina capital city Buenos Aires has designated as "World Book Capital 2011" in Paris.
World book capital is designated every year by UNESCO, IPA (International Publishers Association), IBF (International Booksellers Federation) and IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions).
Earlier the “World book capital” has been given to 10 other cities from 2001 onwards. These are
-Madrid-Spain (2001)
-Alexandaria-Egypt(2002)
-New Delhi-India(2003)
-Antwerp-Belgium(2004)
-Montreal-Canada(2005)
-Turin-Italy(2006)
-Bagota- Columbia(2007)
-Amsterdam-Netherands(2008)
-Beirut-Lebanon(2009)
-Ljubljana-Slovenia(2010)

The World book capital is given to recognize city to promoting books and reading in the books industry.
City remains designated as “World Book Capital” for a year from 23rd April to 22nd April of following year. April 23 is also UNESCO’s World Book and copyright day.
