HISTORY

• "Aitreya Brahmana" had earliest mention of Andhras. It was called Dakshina Padh during those days.

• History of Andhra Desa is regulary available from 236 B.C.

• Ashokas 13 th rock edict mentions Andhras to be his sub-ordinate.

• Satvahanas, Sakas, Ishavakus, Eastern Chalukyas, Kakatiyas ruled over here.

• It was part of Vijayanagar, Nizams dynasities.

• British annexed Nizam terriotries to Madras Presidency.

• Andhras was struggling for seperate Andhra province since time of British.

• J.V.P committe consists of Jawahar Lal Nehru, Vallabh Bhai Patel and Pattabhi Sitaramaih suggested that Andhra state can be formed but City of Madras cannot be a part of it.

• On 1st Oct 1953 Andhra State was formed from Telegu speaking areas of Madras Presidency.

• On Nov 1956 it got merged with Hyderabad state to form Andhra Pradesh as per States Reorganisation Act.
